The JEOL2100 TEM is a transmission electron microscope within the General Instrumentation Department. It is generally operated at 200 kV. This microscope is especially suited for:

  • Cryo-EM
  • Tomography
  • High-resolution imaging

How to get access to this microscope

Before using the TEM you have to:

  • Complete the introduction training by Hetty. Training is only available for people who are experienced in using the JEOL1400.
    • Contact Hetty to plan the training
  • Book the TEM on the bookings website
    • You can only book the TEM after completing the training.

  • Jeol JEM-2100
  • Detectors and camera’s:
    • Side mount camera: Gatan 830 Orius SC200, 2048x2048 pixels
    • Bottom mount camera: Gatan 895 ultrascan 4000, 4080 x 4080 pixels
    • STEM detector: JEOL EM-24511 SIOD - currently under repair
    • Dark field detector: JEOL EM-24560
    • Gatan Digiscan 2
    • Bruker Quantax EDS detector large area silicon drift detector (60mm2 ) for energy dispersive spectroscopy - currently broken - unclear if fixable
